Introduction
Planning a trip with your family and specially kids can sometimes prove to be a real task. You have to take care of the minutest of things before you can actually begin the trip. It might save you from a lot of unforeseen problems which may arise during the journey to the destination, and also at the place where you are planning to visit. Everyone wants to have a good time in their vacation and want to enjoy without being bothered about things. And if you are with your family, you would certainly want to make sure that they have a comfortable and safe journey. Here are some tips which might be useful for you and can save considerable time, energy and money, at the same time making your trip an exciting one.
General Audience
Anyone planning to travel with kids can make use of this information, be it moms traveling with their kids, or the great dads of the world.
Travel Documents
Always ensure that you are carrying all the travel documents, which might include traveling tickets, hotel reservations, etc. Apart from these, always remember to get the documents photocopied and carry a copy along with you, just in case you loose the originals. Another good idea is to make a label of your destination address and put it inside the bags. Just incase luggage is lost and if anyone opens they know where to send. Though make sure lables are on the top of each luggage too!!
Share everyday use things
Traveling with infants and toddlers, resist the urge to take everything under the sun. For older kids, consider that many ordinary things can be shared. For example, girls may insist on having their own blow dryer at home, but when traveling, one is enough.
Try taking travel size supplies.
Zippered Money Belt
Sight-seeing is always exciting and distracting too. So, consider a zippered money belt or waist wallet for your valuables, instead of being worried about pick-pockets all the time.
Any other supplies?
Ask yourself what supplies you will need to have on hand to take care of any normal or special needs for the child. Remember, it is the airline's responsibility to carry passengers to their destination, but it is the responsibility of the parent or responsible adult to take care of any children.
Took enough food/diapers/medicines?
Take all essential items for the children in carry-on luggage: Take enough food, diapers, medicine, and other items to last through possible flight delays and lost luggage. Carrying all the child's essentials with you is especially important if your child is on a special diet or on medication.
Check with your Health insurance company about facilities provided in other states/ country.
Bring along safe toys
Bring along safe toys, try to avoid bringing along toys that are sharp, heavy, or that break easily. If the child has an electronic game, only allow them to use it during the cruise portion of flight. Electronic games may interfere with an aircraft's navigational system during takeoff and landing. Carry a few new toys (the one's kid haven't used at all) as this engages them and are not bored easily for a while. Bring paper as well, it can be used for drawing, writing, or origami, and packs rather neatly.
Medical Conditions
If your child has a medical condition that may become an issue during the flight, make a flight attendant, counter agent, or gate agent aware of that possibility before the flight
Comfortably dressed
Make sure that your kid is comfortably dressed for traveling
