Why you need

  • If you want your dogs coat to shine and and be soft, consider grroming him yourself, or taking him to the nearest vet office offering this, or another close Groomer.
  • However, you can even grrom your dog at home by following these simple tips.

what you need

  • Your Best Friend...Your DOG.
  • Shedding Blade(Spiral, if possible.)
  • Brush
  • Comb/Hair Brush
  • Leash

Procedure

  1. Make sure your dog is not sensitive to shedding blades or combs.
  2. Find the brushes you need. Shedding blade, hair brush, comb, soft-bristled brush, eccetera.
  3. Start grooming your dog with the shedding blade to remove excess hair. Do NOT use this on the dogs' legs or face.
  4. Use a soft-bristled brush on him coat. Begin on his neck and move down his body, under his belly, and on his tail.
  5. If you want, you may use a comb or hair brush. Stroke his coat gently with it to make the hairs lie flat.
  6. When you are finished, praise your dog and give him a treat or two for standing still.

General Tips

  • For a soft-bristled brush, consider using a brand new horse brush. They have the perfect stiffness.
  • When purchasing a shedding blade, look for the spiral one. They are much easier to use.
  • Groomers are often very expensive and are tougher with your dog. Try to groom your four-legged friend yourself instead of having to pay for someone to do it.

Caution

  • Be careful not to press too hard on your dog while using a shedding blade.
  • If you do decide to use a horse brush, make sure it is clean and has never been used. The bristles trap in germs and dust.
