Choose a Good Digital Camera
- Select a camera with good quality range, good resolution, and a wide range of options.
- Consider a 3-5 megapixels for good quality images, 7 megapixels and up for more professional output.
- An optical zoom feature produces better quality outputs than digital zoom.
- Select a storage media that lets you store more images, but is not very expensive.

Taking Photos
- Capture small details that brings out the best of nature.
- Taking photos of kids who are unaware can sometimes capture rare special moments.
- Adjust your brightness and contrast according to the amount of light coming from the sun or in your surroundings.
- Hold you camera firmly and ensure that it does not interfere with the lens.
- Prevent blurry and out-of-focus shots by half-depressing on the shutter button until the camera has enough time to lock the focus, before completely pressing the button to take the shot.
- Preview captured shots to immediately decide whether to keep it or to delete and retake it.
- Bringing an extra memory storage media can come in handy specially on long trips.
- Have an extra battery ready for long photo sessions.

Make the Correct Adjustments
- Adjust the aperture of your camera to control how much light enters the camera.
- Control the shutter speed to create different impressions, like capturing high speed actions, or slow motion movements of objects.
- Try to manually control the ISO to control the light sensitivity of the camera sensor.
- Use filters and lenses to enhance the effect and mood of the captured photo.

Photo processing
- Use a software that you can comfortably use, with good features to apply.
- Eliminate red-eye and other unwanted portions from a photo.
- Change brightness for a good photo touchup.
- Take a dominant object of a photo scene as your guide in leveling the photo to make it look straight.
